The Oregon Invasive Species Council held its annual meeting in Portland on June 24-25, 2009. The Council invited Lisa Arkin, Executive Director of the Oregon Toxics Alliance to give the keynote during the lunch hour. Arkin’s spoken address, The Toxics Issue Relative to Invasive Species Eradication: What are the Concerns for Future Projects? and hand-outs, can be found here. She spoke about three concepts that pertain to the use of chemicals in the environment: 1) the Precautionary Principle; 2) Alternative Assessment: 3) Toxicity Pathways.
