Field Burning - Status

Due in a large part to comments from concerned citizens like you, and the 600 signatures gathered by Oregon Toxics Alliance, the Eugene City Council has agreed to hold a work session on field burning.

The date for the work session is February 20th at the McNutt Room of City Hall (777 Pearl St).  Field burning is currently marked as Item B, which means that topic will begin around 12:30PM. Our partners, The Western Environmental Law Center, will provide the Council with information about using the court system to put an end to the unnecessary and harmful practice known as field burning.

Though public testimony will not be heard at the Work Session, you can - and should - continue to share your comments with Council Members.  Tell them how field burning affects you.  Tell them how it affects your loved ones.  Tell them that health of their constituents is more important than profits for the few remaining grass seed farmers that refuse to use modern methods.

You can send the Mayor and Council e-mail at mayorandcc@ci.eugene.or.us.
